Carlow Choral Society’s Summer Concert – Haydn and Mozart Carlow Choral Society performs its Summer Concert on Saturday May 18 th at 8.00pm in the
Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow.
This powerful performance will include Haydn’s dramatic Nelson Mass – this is one of Haydn’s finest works and was composed in 1798 during the ongoing turmoil of the
Napoleonic Wars. Its completion had coincided with Nelson’s victory in the Battle of the Nile and it came to be known as the Nelson Mass.
The concert will also feature Haydn’s Te Deum and three of Mozart’s most sublime works, Lacrimosa from Requiem, Ave Verum and Laudate Dominum.
Conducted by our Musical Director, Blanaid Murphy, with the Irish Choral Sinfonia Orchestra and organist Yvonne Collier,
soloists; Soprano: Aisling Kenny, Alto: Leanne Fitzgerald,
Tenor: Jacek Wislocki and Bass: Eoghan Desmond.
This promises to be an unforgettable and uplifting performance.

Carlow Choral Society has over 70 members and performs regularly many choral works both at home and abroad. Our most recent concert was our 2018 Christmas Concert which featured Vivaldi’s Gloria and other festive works. The choir travelled to Berlin in July 2018 to participate in the International COSOA choral festival and also travelled to Halifax in the UK in 2017 to join Halifax Choral Society for their special 200th anniversary performance of Handel’s Messiah.

Carlow Choral Society presents 'A Glorious Christmas' in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow, on Saturday December 8th 2018, at 8pm. The programme includes the very well known and uplifting Vivaldi's Gloria. There will be a moving performance of Buxdehude's 'The newborn babe, the heavenly child', with favorites from , Handel’s Messiah and singalong carols including ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ and ‘Joy to the World'.
The concert will feature the Cathedral Organ, Orchestra, Soloists and will be conducted by our Musical Director, Blanaid Murphy. Join us for this glorious celebration in the beautiful surroundings of Carlow Cathedral.
